Walk Wheel Cycle Trust Launches Lockdown Activity Program for UK Families

The Walk Wheel Cycle Trust has launched a four-week online program for families in the UK. The initiative, available via the free Parent Focus newsletter, aims to keep children entertained and active during lockdown. The program features a variety of weekly challenges endorsed by British Paralympian Dame Sarah Storey.

Each week of the program focuses on a different theme. 'Wellbeing' kicks off the series, encouraging children to create their own relaxation space at home. The 'keeping active' week challenges youngsters to design their ideal playground, while the 'being creative' theme sees them designing 'rainbow bling' bicycle helmets. The 'investigating' week encourages children to explore their local area on a family walk, and the final 'anything goes' week is a chance for kids to share their favourite activities from the previous weeks.

The program is the brainchild of Chris Bennett, Head of Behaviour Change and Engagement at Walk Wheel Cycle Trust. He hopes the newsletter will provide a useful resource for parents during this challenging time. In addition to the four-week feature, the Parent Focus newsletter also includes cycling and walking tips for families.

The Walk Wheel Cycle Trust's four-week online program is now available via the free Parent Focus newsletter. With a variety of weekly challenges themed around wellbeing, activity, creativity, investigation, and open-ended fun, the program offers a wealth of engaging and educational content for children during lockdown. Dame Sarah Storey's endorsement adds weight to the initiative, which is set to keep many youngsters entertained and active in the coming weeks.
