Gear up, Bucharest! The much-anticipated urban extravaganza, Open Streets - Bucharest, makes a grand comeback on April 12 this year, setting the city alight for a whole 24 weekends till October 12. So buckle up and get ready to experience some serious sidewalk shenanigans!

This year's event promises an eclectic lineup of entertainment, ranging from live concerts, street shows, dance, parades, workshops for the little ones, guided tours, and areas for exercise and sports. You name it, they've got it! And that's not all. Now, the fun extends beyond Calea Victoriei and into various Bucharest neighborhoods. Fun fact: This year, Open Streets is teaming up with other neighborhood events such as Street Delivery, Dâmbovița Apa Dulce, Bazar de Cotroceni, Dorobanți Street Art Festival, and New Urban Habits, making the city an enormous playground for your enjoyment.

Now, you might wonder, what's the whole point of Open Streets? Why all the fuss about closing streets and inviting people to stroll around? Well, according to the organizers, the reason is as simple yet profound as it was back when it all started – the city belongs to its people, who need spaces to meet, socialize, and interact. Heck, it's even great for local businesses, fostering a friendlier, more accessible urban vibe.

So, when the event is in session, expect Calea Victoriei to be pedestrian-friendly between 10:00 and 22:00, on the road segment between Dacia Boulevard and the intersection with Splaiul Independenței. Don't worry, though, the traffic isn't completely halted – you can always cross over at Știrbei Vodă Street, C. A. Rosetti Street, Dem I. Dobrescu Street, Ion Câmpineanu Street, Regina Elisabeta Boulevard.

As for public transportation, some routes operated by the Bucharest Transport Company (STB) will be diverted, affecting nobody. And during the night until the morning (Saturday to Sunday), from 23:00 to 09:00, the road traffic on Calea Victoriei resumes, and the bicycle lanes are closed on the arteries where cars are not welcome.

Open Streets is a project of the Bucharest City Hall, brought to life by Arcub - the Cultural Center of the Municipality of Bucharest, and Proedus - the Center for Educational and Sports Projects. Wondering what's on the itinerary? Just head over to the Arcub and Proedus websites, and you'll find the calendar of events updated for your convenience.

Now that you're all hyped up for Open Streets - Bucharest, remember – life's too short to be stuck indoors, so hurry up and join the celebration!

Embrace the city setup for a unique blend of urban excitement, as Open Streets - Bucharest collaborates with Street Delivery, Dâmbovița Apa Dulce, Bazar de Cotroceni, Dorobanți Street Art Festival, and New Urban Habits to transform various Bucharest neighborhoods into a vibrant home-and-garden of outdoor-living and lifestyle experiences. Don't miss the opportunity to mingle, interact, and enjoy the diverse lineup of workshops, performances, and exercise areas offered during this year's Open Streets event.
