Weekend festivities in Uerdinger town park, celebrating Scottish customs during the Highland Games, featuring an enjoyable family event.

Barn's familial festival is approaching, and it's gonna be a blast for both youths and elders! This shindig, happening in cooperation with SC Krefeld 05, boasts a children's village where little ones can participate in playful Highland Games. Bouncy castles and two playgrounds will keep 'em occupied, while the KG op de Höh offers face painting for an extra touch of fun.

Charity is on the menu this year too, with two philanthropic stands. Coffee roastery Ponte from HPZ Uerdingen will be serving delicious beverages, and the support association of St. Heinrich kindergarten will be present to help a good cause. Scottish and Irish clans will be there to educate folks about their unique clan structures.

Don't forget the sweet treats! The Fudge Shop will be loaded with mouthwatering British sweets, and there'll be a whiskey stand if you fancy a taste of Scotland’s national drink. Foodies won't be disappointed!

Frank Langen, Highlander chairman, beams with pride as he shares that two inclusive teams from his club will be competing in the Uerdingen Stadtpark this year. "Starting with only five members in 2023, our group has grown to 14, and we train together every Tuesday. Teams have already participated in Kempen and Dormagen and managed to win audience hearts," Langen says.

The athletes from the "Lebenshilfe Highlander" team give it their all, whether they're carrying the Stone of Manhood or competing in the Farmer’s Walk or tree trunk toss. Newcomers can still learn these disciplines before the festival if they wish to participate. Teams consist of five members plus one reserve.

Get ready to drum up some excitement! The festival will officially start on the Stadtpark lawn at 10:45 am to the rhythm of the White Hackles Drums and Pipes, with Mayor Frank Meyer leading the way. Arrive early to be part of the crowd and check out the event info at https://keilatex.de/highlandgames/. Now we'd all better start rehearsing those Highland dances! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🎉🥧🥃🥚🎨🚨👨‍🦳🏞️

At the familial festival, attendees can enjoy a blend of sports, lifestyle, and family-dynamics, as athletes from the "Lebenshilfe Highlander" team compete in Highland Games. Meanwhile, in the home-and-garden area, the Fudge Shop offers British sweets, and a whiskey stand serves Scotland's national drink. Additionally, relationships between Scottish and Irish clans and local community members will be strengthened through educational sessions about clan structures.
